Sending You Sunflowers!

Friday, July 17, 2009

Don't sunflowers just make you smile? I always thought my father's favorite flowers were geraniums and snapdragons, but I learned after his death that sunflowers were his first favorite. His cousin told me that when they were children there was a field of sunflowers near his aunt's house. My father had very humble beginnings, as he was the son of a sharecropper with eleven children. I am sure times were extremely difficult in their household, but this field of sunflowers gave him great joy. He told her that no matter how bad things seemed, he could gaze upon that field of flowers, and it was as if each one was smiling back at him. He believed they were gifts from God to bring happiness and smiles into the lives of all who looked upon them and especially to those who needed the smiles:o) I must say, after hearing this story, I look at sunflowers in a whole new light and have a much better appreciation for them. And he was right, they do seem to smile at you...and I cannot help but to smile right back.

Now to the reason you stopped by...today's card was created with Rachelle Ann Miller's~Lily-My Little Friends. She was colored with Prisma markers with a touch of "Crystal Glitter" here and there to add a dash of sparkle. The DP is from the new June Bug paper pad from Basic Grey. I love, love, love this and the new Lemonade papers!!! They are F*A*B*U*L*O*U*S!!!! If you don't have them yet, you are one click away from getting your own from KL Stampin n' Scrappin. I promise you; you will not be disappointed! Kelly is also taking preorders for the new Magnolia Lazy Days of Summer Collection. They are adorable!!! I hope I will be able to get my hands on a few of those sweeties!

Before I forget, we are only four days away from some upcoming blog candy. There will also be a blog hop on the KL Stampin n' Scrappin Blog in the near future, and there will be some surprises offered there too! So, stay tuned for all the details;o)

Well, I am outta here. I have an appointment to go to, and I am slowly but surely running out of time. Thank you for stopping by!!! I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your visits!!! Have a wonderful Friday, and I hope your weekend is filled with sunflowers:o)

Hugs!
Carolyn
